SABC banned the commercial because it was “degrading to the President”.
Media reform is needed in South Africa. Some intervention needs to be made. Banning of adverts and certain news worthy material not being aired in favour of individuals will soon creep in.
The media plays such a role in moulding society however adverts offer a lighter outlook and offer humour to the bleak reality! Banning an advert because it seems as though its an insult to the President is utter rubbish. How many Presidents before him have gone through such? What makes him ‘special’? Its a huge fuss over nothing really, its humour! Under his leadership human rights which weigh more than the rights his are being infringed daily!
I feel with Social Media that ad will reach more people but from a political view maybe not as they assume majority voters will not see it…
